Last Day in Melbourne

Saturday 30 October 2010

We got up, but were really tired from last night, shock and surprise. We went to the gardens to get the free shuttle. We just missed one and had to wait thirty minutes. We got it and honestly didn't pay close attention to the commentary. We were watching a really cute kid on the bus. We rode it for 1.5 hours (an eternity) and ran off. It was drizzling, so we went to get food. We decided to catch up on our journaling, so we did not do a whole lot. It was a good thing we saw the city so much already, because the rain was not helping at all. We noticed a LOT of hats around. People everywhere were wearing hats. We wondered what was going on, then we found out it was a Melbourne Derby.

We walked back to our hostel, but bought food first for dinner. As we were heading to the hostel, it started pouring. We raced to the hostel as fast as we could. We were leaping over rivers and lakes. Cars would splash water everywhere. We finally made it to the hostel and passed by a group of guys in the lounge that were hootin and hollering after us. we walked by quickly after passing a guy playing pool who was taking up all available space. We got our stuff together, concealed the laundry by putting git in bags, and walked past the guys. We bought soap and went to the laundry room...and all machines were taken. So much for that idea. So we prepared dinner and ate noodles. Getting ready for bed wasn't easy. People were everywhere and in costumes. Guess they were already ready for Halloween!
